SALISBURY -- The city police department celebrated the accomplishments and efforts of its officers during an award ceremony Thursday.
The department gave awards and recognized more than 50 law enforcement officers and employees in the ceremony that is hosted twice each year.
The Medal of Honor, the department's highest honor, was awarded to Officer Daniel Calhoun. The Silver Star Awards, the second highest honor, were given to Corporal Don Kuczenski and Officer Tom Burt.
"These officers are doing good work in the city," said Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster.
Maryland State Police also had something to celebrate after the recent graduation of 59 candidates from the state police academy.
Each new trooper had to undergo 26 weeks at the academy in Sykesville, Md.
"It's a very demanding six months," said Lt. Krah Plunkert, the Princess Anne barrack commander.
Two graduates, Tpr. Jonathan King, a 21 year old Somerset County native, and Tpr. Ryan Watkins, a 21-year-old Wicomico County resident, have been assigned to the Princess Anne Barrack

No shit you mean there are cops outside of court security that get awards. Wow congrats to those out there kicking ass.
I would laugh my ass off but the crap is just to sad.
At least SPD and this web site care about the road dogs!
