A Community United... Special Thanks...

Not only did thousands of volunteers arrive to assist for the search but thousands of people donated their time, food, water, and shelter to police officers, sheriff's and fire/ems workers from the entire area.

We wish to thank everyone involved that assisted which includes all police officers, road officers filling in, search teams, commanders, fire department, and volunteers who came from across the area to assist in this great effort. It is very unfortunate of the ultimate outcome however, there has never been a more dedicated effort witnessed by this writer by all involved and we and the entire community owe you a deep debt of gratitude.

Supervisor of the month for July 2009

The supervisor of the month for July 2009 is Cpl John Alessandrini! He has earned the respect of his subordinates and continues to maintain a positive a attitude toward line officers. He will be receiving a gift card, a crappy letter and a certificate, which we hope he frames and places above his desk while working! Just kidding.... you will get your prize within several days!

Officer of the Month Award for July, 2009

Drum roll please.... The officer of the award goes to J Seichepine AND RC Cordrey! Both will receive gift cards, a crappy letter, and a crappy certificate suitable for framing (and you better frame it). An honorable mention and letter will go to E Avnet as well. These deputies deserve this reward even though all the officers on the poll are great people and police officers. We would like to see more participation from other agencies as well as we know that officers in surrounding jurisdictions are also doing an excellent job. The officers mention will receive their prizes shortly (give us several days to get them out to you).

Seichepine is doing an excellent job for the CAC and it takes a lot of er... Balls... To do what he does hunting down sickos and pretending to be a 14 year old girl, (this time being paid for it.)
411 cases found (criminal cases).

Cordrey has always been a consistently good deputy who know the law and is an example to his fellow officers. He has closed major cases in the past and has worked in several divisions within WCSD. A consummate prankster he maintains a tight working relationship with his fellow co workers. 325 cases found (criminal cases)

Avnet gets am honorable mention because he ranked 3rd in the poll and takes a licking and keeps on ticking and although is going through some trying times at work keeps a positive attitude. Keep your head up brotha! 356 cases found (criminal cases)

Salisbury PD Top Cops Awarded!

SALISBURY POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE AWARDS

Salisbury Mayor James Ireton, Jr., is pleased to announce that five police officers from the Salisbury Police Department have recently won awards in recognition of their contributions to the Salisbury community.

Officer Kenneth D. Wilson received the Maryland Municipal League (MML) Police Executive Association’s 21st annual “TOP COP” award. The award was presented to Officer Wilson by Governor Martin O’Malley, along with Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler, at the Maryland Municipal Police Executives Association meeting in Ocean City on June 30, 2009. Officer Wilson was selected as the “2009 Municipal TOP COP” in recognition of his dedication and commitment to serving the citizens of Salisbury.

Four Salisbury Police officers received Wicomico EXILE Achievement Awards – Corporal Jason King, Detective Dan Parsons, Officer Troy Underwood and Officer Chad Crockett. The awards were presented to these officers by United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein and Asst. Special Agent in Charge David McCain of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at a formal ceremony in Salisbury on June 30, 2009. These officers were selected to receive this award in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Wicomico EXILE gun crime program. Wicomico EXILE is a joint effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, with the assistance of community activists, educators, and civic and faith-based organizations, to combat gun crime. “I am grateful to these officers for working with federal and state authorities to remove dangerous criminals from the streets of Salisbury,” said U.S. Attorney Rosenstein.

Mayor Ireton said, “I, on behalf of our citizens, thank these officers for their service to Salisbury. It is important to recognize these public servants for their dedication. The City Council and I will recognize these officers at the July 13th Council meeting, and I encourage the public to join us.”
“I would like to thank MML for this very prestigious award that recognizes the hard work of another Salisbury Police Officer,” said Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster. “This is thesecond time that MML has recognized an officer from our department. Officer Ken Wilson is just one of many fine Police Officers that serve the citizens of Salisbury.”

Chief Webster continued, “My appreciation goes out to all of the officers who were recognized by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Exile Program. This was a team effort and paid off with additional sentences for those convicted of weapons violations. This program is another example of the cooperation between law enforcement, the Wicomico States Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. All of the officers, attorneys, corrections, and parole and probation personnel have made a major contribution to making Salisbury a better community.”

DFC. M. Cook, WicBury Crapper Top Cop June 2009

Acting on advice from our voting poll and drawing on our what we know of him, along with looking over DFC M. Cook's court docket history and cases, he is awarded our TOP COP award for last month, June, 2009! Yay. He will be receiving a gift card and a certificate saying he's floated to the top of the crapper (allow several days for delivery as we sneek it by the guards)! Congratulations on this great award Cook! You are certainly a floater that has risen above the rest! We will be taking nominations on the 15th of this month for July's Top Cop Award, keep up the good work. We would also like to acknowledge Officer Crockett for runner up and Trooper Porta for their fine work. Their work has not been overlooked. Both Porta and Crockett have been doing an awesome job. Although Crockett "newer" he has been on the road several years, is very proactive, and has netted multiple circuit court arrests. Trooper Porta has been on the road for a while, is very proactive, always great to work with, and continues to present a professional image on behalf of the Maryland State Police. Both Crockett and Porta, we salute your efforts. You will receive runner up certificates. Thank you for your continued efforts protecting the citizens of Wicomico County and pushing the other floaters aside in your assent to the top!
