Hmmm, we are not too sure what to make of this statement. It seems from the quote, if accurate, Jim Ireton the Mayor of Salisbury was telling his police department and code enforcement officers that he is not concerned about their "excuses" and to do their job. He also indicates that if they officers do their jobs then he will support you. But, lets see if that holds true in a cash strapped economy within a high crime ridden city. If you want aggressive policing mayor then you must hold true to that statement of support when the million dollar law suits start rolling in from aggressive police work. Because, unfortunately, it is an eventuality in this society. So, if you don't want to hear "excuses" or reasons for city crime problems then sit back, strap in, and get ready for a wild ride because you are green lighting SPD to kick ass and take names, and you will support them, correct?

Greenlight. PLEASE!
And if you don't mind, start on the roads between Church & Isabella. Don't ignore the area anymore!
I know, a lot of effort is expended in the area between Naylor and 13 - we need it on the other side too. There was an armed robbery/forced entry on Marshall a few days ago. Not to mention our friendly drug dealer, party house, and all the juvenile delinquents running around.
We have begged for help, to no avail. We don't even see police cars riding around anymore - at least, not during the hours when things happen.
Crapper if you have learned anything you have to have learned anything printed in the Daily Times is to be taken with a grain of salt. If you really want to know I suggest you contact Mayor Ireton directly. Local reporters have a way of twisting things, if you know what I mean.
I don't blame him, quit bitchin and do your job. You do your part, that is all you can be responsible for. You can't control courts, you can't control the judge, you can't control the jails. You can control the quality of the job you do, and let the fault lay with the other party.
This is a tough job, a thankless job, a job that you give up a lot just to be in this work. At the end of the day be the best you can be and you will never fault yourself.
You can't change the world, just how you react to it.
Go get em SPD
A longstanding "rumor" about the SPD and why open-air drug markets and prostitution has existed in the Church St. are for years and years is that that is the Red Light Zone designated by mayor Tilghman, and that Chief Webster complied wtih, under her orders. The thought was that strict enforcement in that area would just cause such activities to encompass a wider area, to include Monitor Ct.
If a Stand Down order was given to SPD someone needs to grow a backbone and go to the mayor under the whistle blowers law. This can not and should not be tolerated by anyone. This "rumor" has been around a long time. The appearance of the drug infested Church St area would lead one to believe there is truth to this rumor.
PLEASE - there are neighborhoods, like mine, with families just trying to live quietly and raise kids not too far away from Church Street. PLEASE - complacency does not work! Kick butt, take names, and out the judges who do nothing!!
Ireton is a fraud. He talks a big game. I am truly disgusted with this guy. Not what he portrayed himself to be at all.
