SALISBURY -- A 49-year-old man was shot and killed late last night inside a North Salisbury Boulevard gas station, police said.

Lt. Rob Kemp, a spokesman with the Salisbury Police Department, said officers were called to the Shell Station located in the 2500 block of N. Salisbury Blvd. Monday night just after 11 p.m. and found the victim in the doorway of the business.

The victim, who had been shot multiple times, was rushed to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Kemp said.

Witnesses say the man was shot when he was standing behind the counter and two men came into the store pointed a gun at him and demanded money. As the victim raised his arms, he was shot once in the abdomen, Kemp said.

A struggle ensued and the victim shot several more times, Kemp said. A detailed description of the suspects was not available.
