Roll Call Training - Officer Safety Tips

Due to our increased rate of burglaries and armed robberies remembers that your safety and the safety of your fellow officers is job number one. When responding to calls code 3 bear in mind that you can only made a difference if you get to the call in once piece. So be sure to clear intersections and control your speed. Unless a fellow officer is screaming for help, be careful in your overall response. Don't get complacent. Complacency kills. Treat every alarm and burglary call as if it were an actual burglary in progress. Don't be afraid to withdraw your firearm from your holster and keep it by your side as you check the exterior of a building. When stopping for coffee drive around the parking area twice and look through the glass and at the vehicles outside to ensure that you are not walking into an armed robbery in progress. Park away from the front of the business and when entering, watch your surroundings. Carry your firearm at all times, on or off-duty.
